LITTLE GREEN CUPCAKES...
I have always been conscious of the sourcing of ingredients, from the beginning of setting up Simply scrumptious, and beyond: only ever choosing to bake with free-range eggs, using local suppliers and buying Fairtrade wherever possible.
Over the past few years I have been switching our family to a more sustainable way of living: buying local, growing our own and choosing organic wherever possible. We’ve also cut down our plastic and single use products as much as possible and use environmentally friendly cleaning products. During this time I also became a Weleda Wellbeing Advisor, promoting natural, organic skincare, alongside my cake-making business, and this has really influenced the way I want to run Simply Scrumptious Cupcakes.
With this in mind, I’ve been gradually increasing the organic ingredients in my cupcakes and am now proud to announce that I am using on average 79% organic ingredients in my standard bakes.
Key ingredients that I use wherever possible are:
organic butter, caster sugar, flour, milk, lemons, vegetable oil, dairy-free milk; organic Madagascan vanilla; Fairtrade organic cocoa and chocolate; and locally sourced free-range eggs.
I am working on finding a regular supplier of quality organic icing sugar, organic colours and decorations too.
Our current range of boxes fully biodegradable (except a few leftover mini cupcake boxes I am currently using up!). I also use a “green” energy supplier to power our hard-working oven and mixer (£50 for you if you switch!). I have also developed a range of gluten-free and vegan recipes.

These are the standard ingredients I use for my bakes. There may be the odd occasion where these may
vary due to supply issues, so if you have an allergy, please make me aware on ordering. For themed
cakes, I can supply you with a bespoke list of any ingredients used on demand. Please let me know BEFORE I bake please!
The colours I use are supplied by Sugarflair – all the colours are GM free, nut free, gluten free and
suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
